Flavour Pic Flavour Pic Ooookay.....Lets have a Quick 'Overview' ! - These Kits Run ‘Semi Sequential’ Injection & ‘Wasted Spark’ Ignition - Now ….Some detail !

There is much on T'nternet & various books around this subject, again lets try and keep things simple, the explanations may not be 100.00% perfect to the Experts liking, but lets just keep this simple & hopefully – understandable !

‘Semi-Sequential’ injection is better than ‘Batch’ injection because it times fuel delivery closer to the intake valve opening, leading to better air/fuel mixing, smoother idle, improved fuel economy, fewer emissions, and more responsive throttle.

Where as ‘Batch’ Injection fires Injectors in ‘Groups’, often spraying fuel too early or too late, causing pooling & less efficient combustion, especially at lower RPM band. Typically you will really see the difference between ‘Tickover’ and 2500 ish RPMs on a Rover V8. The more tuned your engine the more you will notice !.

Is it worth it on a 3.5 or 3.9 Standard Rover V8 where you just want it to be reliable and run when you turn the key and / or you don't have Cats & Lambdas to consider ?. Well....It's Nice, very nice, some really good bragging rights – But - Maybe... Probably... Not. You won't see the Benefit of the additional £s outlay.

Ok, so what about a TVR engine, or a well tuned engine with ported heads more aggressive cams etc ? - Ah ....Now we are talking - Yes... Absolutely YES...
Now I can say this as I have a Jon Eales 5.2 Triple Plenum Full Race Rover V8, and can give me own personal feedback !. I have run it on both our MS1X, & MS2X systems, and now this system.

So it’s now running ‘Semi Sequential’ Injection + ‘Wasted Spark’, and the differences on both ‘Tickover’ and the smoothness when (Cough) ‘Booted’ in any gear at low RPMs is frankly …….Staggering. Now ....it picks up ..and quickly.

No more ‘Throat clearing’, without doubt better emissions (For MOT has always been a challenge), better behaviour at all lower RPMs - and in any gear – and a sense of ‘Urgency’ & ‘Crispness’ that just wasn’t there on MS1X or 2X systems until you got the revs up – its was like having a mental camshaft – it very much felt like ‘all or nothing’.

It has, in a real sense transformed the engine from a 'slightly troublesome' at lower rpms engine, coughing a bit , popping on overrun (Due to the high amount of ‘Valve Over lap’ that comes with aggressive Cams), and feeling ‘Lazy’ under 3000 RPM. This system has had the weird effect of ‘Smoothing it all out’ at the lower RPMs …but turning it at the same time into being faster, way way quicker on RPM Pickup, smoother as mentioned, oh, and friends standing by it on Tickover don’t have weepy eyes and moan at me about it - a lot !!

Downsides ?. Well it costs more, and is more complex. Fitting one isn’t though, as its as ‘Plug and Play’ as both our other systems.
Bad news : That complexity means you really do need to get the ECU ‘Mapped’ and the engine tuned and set up properly to get the real benefits of this system.
Good News: We can put you in touch with an absolute expert on this system, who can visit you and superbly tune your engine for a lot less £s than you might think ….(Oh, and that’s not me – I paid him to Map mine !)

All in all, it’s down to the higher the state of tune of your engine, the smoother the drivability you want, any future plans to tweak etc, Cats & Lambda issues for MOTs, balanced against if you are prepared to spend a bit more .

Summary : Is it better than MS1X and MS2X Kits ? – Absolutely. Is it for everyone ? – Absolutely not …You pays yer money and you make your choice !!

If you have the early 3.5 V8 running the (dreadful) 'Flapper EFI' system we do not recomend this for any Megasquirt Conversion & to upgrade to a 'Hotwire' Inlet assembly.

And finally - for the 'Borderline Insane' - Our AMP MS3X Pro 'FULLY SEQUENTIAL' Kits for Rover V8s

Ok

If you want to go completely mad install wise ....then you do this....

You go for this kit, it's built to order.

This is the absolute top of the range of what we do, (and being brutally honest - huge overkill for the majority of Rover V8 Engines)
It uses the AMP MS3 Pro ECU which will do pretty much 'Anything' & 'Everything' you want from any EFI system, bar actually drive it for you or make your tea !
This runs FULLY sequential (more information will appear here shortly) - but - these are 100% bespoke built systems, and are built to order with a lead time of approx 2+ months.

Phone to discuss. This - to run FULLY sequential - requires your V8 to have a Correct Camshaft Timing Gear and Timing cover all set up correctly with a Cam Sensor, we can have a chat
if you really think you need this system. In all honesty, the differences between MS1 and MS2 in the engines where it shows means you can see a significant difference.

Similarly, and again, if you have the right engine you will notice a further significant difference between say a MS2 and a MS3 Mini pro running 'Semi Sequential' (The kits above).

But, even with a bonkers spec Rover V8 (ie mine !) the difference between 'Semi Sequential' & 'Fully Sequential' is nowhere near as dramatic, you could even be dissapointed when you look
and the added complexity and costs .... Its the old 'You pays yer money and you make your choices' quote time .....

Either way, if you would like to dicuss this system, have an Asprin or 3 ready if you are not fully versed in 'Fully Sequential' & all the various possible combinations of this build, ...
(1 before and prob 2 after !). It is one hell of a piece of Kit, .... On my 5.2 as I just had to try it out .....Results............ 'Debateable'... (I'm not selling this well am I ?? :O)
