Complete Fully Converted Standard Metric Pegged Differential Casing Assembly For Standard LONG NOSE Differentials

This is by far our most popular Pegged Casing.

These heavily modified Land Rover Long Nose casings offer a massive increase in strength, (Watch the Technical Video in Video section for an explanation of how they work and how we make them.).

All of our Pegged Casing are done by ourselves in house, and have Modifications including 24mm of CNC Machined Steel plate specially TIG welded into place, milled, drilled and tapped M16. These holes then hold the supplied Dog Bolts and our special Phosphor Bronze Pad which supports the CW&P from flexing and seperating. We have had just three of these fail out of 1058 (as at Dec 2022) sold where the Crownwheel was so overloaded it sheared the teeth off the base plate ! On the basis that nothing is unbreakable, this unit + a HD CW&P set properly built up is going to be one of the best you can get for your Land Rover axle (maybe with the exception of further upgrading to the 'Big Bearing' or 'Ultimate' Pegged Casings listed bwlow) !.

Just be careful - these do NOT have oil filler holes in the casing - these will fit any Series or Coil Sprung LR axle, just check you have a filler hole in your diff pan !

Complete Fully Converted Imperial Pegged Differential Casing Assembly For Standard LONG NOSE Differentials

The 2nd of our range is the 'Imperial' Pegged Casing.

These are earlier than the ones above, but, importantly these have a filler plug in the differential housing itself, the Metric ones above do not !.

So, if you have a Land Rover series, or an axle tube that does not have a filler plug, you really need one of these!> Some customer ask for these as they find its easier on oil changes to use the filler plug in the casing vs the axle tube, they cost a little extar as we have to add additional parts on an imperial casing if you are fitting a metric center (ie An ARB / Ashlocker / Tru Trac etc) but otherwise these are the same and will fit any LR axle casing from Leaf Sprung to Coil Sprung

Complete Fully Converted Early Big Bearing Pegged Differential Casing Assembly For Standard LONG NOSE Differentials

Our 3rd Unit is this version.

Our 'Standard' Pegged Differential Casings offer massive increases in strength - but, following a yard clearance we have some extremely early LR Casings (late 40s and very early 50s) , where the internal bearings are all significantly Bigger - and Bigger Bearings = Stronger Differentials. As an example of just one of the internal bigger bearings - even with our 'Standard' Pegged Casings, LRs Pinion Bearings are quite small and still can be a early failure area. These very very early Casings have huge Pinion Bearings compared to ALL other LR Casings - see the picture to compare. Over the years LR have changed the design and metal composition of their Casings, and, in simple terms each 'later version' is inferior to the previous one(s).

Even with our 'Standard' Pegged Casings we will only use early 10 and 24 Spline Casings with the 'Locking Plates' into the adjuster rings, they are hard enough to keep stock of - but - we think they are the best to use for our 'Pegged Casings' - until now - these 'Ultimates' are in a different league.

There is (as always) one downside - these 'Ultimate' Pegged Casings WILL NOT HAVE A FLAT on the base to bolt anything to, other than that we can build with any LR Long Nose Center and any LR make of CWP / Ratio to these 'Ultimte' Pegged Casings. We have obtained enough Casings to decide to have their own special conversion plates CNC cut to enable us to convert them, the Casing in the picture was Prototype No 1 - where we made modified plates and a new Jig - just to make sure we could do it, and it worked. It was built with a HD Ashcroft CWP and a Hi Spec Ashlocker

Complete Fully Converted Pegged Differential Casing with Domex 700MC Carrier Cap Upgrade For Standard SHORT NOSE or P38 Differentials

A 'Short Nose' Casing is fitted to POST 'Salisbury' REAR Axles on 110 127 130s etc & P38s Front And Rear

They are not a strong unit at all, and suffer a number of poor design issues, which we have via our casings addressed with our upgrades

For some odd reason the Crown Wheel on these units is thinner than the Long Nose Crownwheels - No, we have no idea why - but - it make them very prone to flexing and shattering

Our Pegged Casing conversion makes a huge impact on this issue, by making the Crown Wheel stay in mesh with the Pinion and not flexing (see the videos)

Additionally for purely cost cutting reasons, the old fashioned locking ears are not on these units.

Instead a hollow 3mm roll pin is supposed to hold the entire unit together...... Daft....seriously daft !
Before our Domex Carrier Cap upgrade we saw many of these units completely destroyed due to the pin failure.
Since our Upgrade we have not had one failure !

ALL of our Short Nose Pegged Casings will come with 'Domex Carrier Cap Upgrades' as standard - Why have a Pegged Casing and leave a known weak spot - We won't we don't !!

Short Nose P38 110 Rear Differential Carrier Cap Upgrade Conversion

Land Rover "Short Nose" Differential casings ALL have a weak 3mm Roll Pin holding the entire differential together. These 'pins', easily fail, causing catastrophic damage !.

This has always bothered us, especially on Pegged casing upgrades as we are still leaving a achilles heel. As such we've been chewing on an upgrade idea for making 110 / P38 / Short Nose Differentials much stronger and sorting out this major failure points for these differentials.

As with many of the weird and whacky ideas that bounce around in our warped little brains, now and again we get a good one, and then after months of prototyping - we have this new product which fixes this issue. I am often pleased with some of our results, but with this one I am super chuffed with the way its turned out.

This can be fitted as an optional extra on all new orders, retro fitted to your existing differential, and can be done (and is worth while) on either standard Short or Pegged Casings. Phone us and have a chat !

Long Nose Differential Domex Carrier Cap Upgrade Conversion

The Later LR Casings just like the Short Nose above also suffer from cost cutting when LR moved form the stronger Locking Tab to the daft rollpin.

Just as with the Short nose units these 'pins', easily fail, causing catastrophic damage !.

Even if you don't fancy upgrading to the full costs or need of a pegged casing - this is an inexpensive upgrade we advise on ALL non Pegged case builds, it adds back in huge strength and reliability - giving you preace of mind.

Xcess Billet Machined Replacement for ARB RD03 or RD56 Air Flange Plate Part Numbers 030120 or 030131 INCLUDES New Timken Bearing

Our new RD03 and RD56 Air Flange End Plates replace the standard weak forged units, both of which are now 'no longer available'.

These are a direct replacement for either offering vastly increased strength, along with fixing the common issue of "the odd air leak ....or 6" ..?. These are CNC Machined from a solid billet of High Grade EN Heat Treated Steel, and, being significantly stronger these are far far more resistant to 'O Ring Grooving' on the Air Journal.

There are options which you need to study to ensure you order the correct kit.

For RD56 24 Spline units - Part Number 030131, you need 'Kit 1'. This is a new Xcess4x4 Air Flange complete with a New Timken Bearing 6 x 12.9 Upgraded Bolts and 2 x New ARB Air Seals.
For the Earlier RD03 - Part Number 030120, you need to order 'Kit 2', which is all of Kit 1, plus it has some additional parts - namely a new 'Uprated Air Ring' and locating Clip.

For ARB RD03 and RD56 Diffs - The Xcess ARB NON Air End Flange Plate.

The Standard ARB 'End Flange' is a cast unit which is - well, how shall we put it ?...."Not very good" ?
The CW&P bolt holes go oval or break through / crack away, the bearing journal tends to wear bearings become loose and or the casting can just plain crack into bits !

On RD03s - Part Number 020404 is wonderfully "No Longer Avaliable", and the same now for RD56 - 020406 - oh - and these are the parts that break - as such your differential would now be sort of 'Scrap'

The 'Xcess ARB Flange Plate' will fit BOTH RD03s and RD56s !. CNC Machined out of a solid 8" billet of High Grade nickel chromium molybdenum steel (if your going to make something better - go the whole F hog lol oh...and heat treated as well. These also come with a New Quality 'Timken' RTC3095 Carrier Bearing pressed on.

This Xcess replacement Unit is not only thicker all over, but beefed up everywhere - like where the bolts clamp the Crown Wheel - the thickness goes from circa just 1mm of casting to 3.2mm, and everything radiused for improvement of shearing issues. A seriously strong upgrade for ARBs.

Xcess 4x4 Spacer Ring for 4.7 Crown Wheel and Pinions being fitted to Metric 3.54 Centres AND Long Nose centres into Short Nose Casings

Our units are made from S275 Hot Rolled Steel, then 'Ground' giving a superior super flat finish & fit, vs many of the cheap adapter plates on the market, which have a very poor surface finish, often giving 'run out' issues.

These 4.7 'Spacer Rings' are required when you fit a 4.7:1 CW&P where you then need to convert the fit to match a 3.54:1 Ratio diff centre.
These change the 4.7 positioning and offset - reseting the position so it all then lines up & fits together.

Solid 1 Piece Forged Cross Shaft upgrade for Ashcroft 4 Pins P38 4 Pins and TD5 110 Rear Short Nnose 18mm Differentials

This 'Forged Cross Shaft' upgrade adds absolutely massive strength to the TD5 110 Rear 4 Pin Short Nose diff, P38 Unit and also New Ashcroft 4 Pin Centers.

The Standard 4 pin has 2 'Pins', both of which have a 50% scalping 'Cut Out' where they cross, weakening them considerably !!
Your '18mm Cross shaft actually is now only 18mm x 9mm ! - and we see them snap regularly - pretty much destroying the entire Diff !.

Our 'Forged Cross Shaft' is unbelivably strong - used on majority of KAM units we have never ever seen one fail - ever. !
As you can see from the pictures - these give a huge strength increase to the double pin cross over achilles heels !. The Unit can be purchased either outright on a DIY basis, or as an upgrade when we build or rebuild your differential.

BRAND NEW Old Stock GENUINE Land Rover Series 4.7 CWP set

The Series LRs CWPs being 4.7:1 Ratio means if you need a new one the options are limited.

As Differential builders we know that there are no decent 'pattern' 4.7 CWPs out there, we have tried them all, ...and they are ALL appalling quality mainly made in India, then rebranded and sold for differing prices by various retailers across the UK !. But they are all nasty !

However, we have now a number of GENUINE LR Factory 'New Old Stock' Units.

These are all as in the pictures, some are 'Military issue' from LR to the Military, and some are in Rover / Leyland / Unipart ! Boxes etc. All are Genuine brand new LR Units - boxes may vary LOL !.

As such these build really well, vs the pattern stuff (yes.....we have tried ALL the avaiable pattern gears - just don't is our advice ! ).

So, as to be crystal clear - We have put a few pictures up of the various types, as said all are Genuine LR issue, but the boxes etc vary between them, if you just order one / two we will send whatever is next on the shelf.....

KAM Differentials Pre Loved HD KAM201 REAR Shaft Super Long Spline 703mm Length

The KAM Differential KAM201 / 703mm Rear Super Long Splined Half shafts are o longer made - but here we have a Preloved HD version, and just the one of them !

KAM Differentials PreLoved 'HD' AeroSpace Grade' KAM203 and KAM204 Rear Shafts (inc the one Super Long Spline 683mm and 953mm - See Chart) are no longer made.

These here are the last made of the Aerospace grade - which are in fact 4340 Chrome Moly - and the best ever made by KAM by RCV in the USA. There is some damage to the oil seal surface, but better to remove seal and run hubs with oil vs grease anyway !. Just the one pair, rare as they come with the super long spline shaft, this fits the later narrow flange rear axles.

ARB RD128 Copper Air Pipe Upgrade Protection Kit

The ARB RD128 Locking Differential for Land Rovers has a very very daft and very very soft 3mm Copper Air Pipe, which goes from the Air Ring on the Differentials Carrier to the outside of the differential casing - er...OVER....yes OVER the top of the Crownwheel....yup...Daft ! (with a BIG Capital 'D' ) ..... These are extremely prone to damage and chaffing, many being worn through or even ripped to bits by the crownwheel - turning the Locker into an expensive and time consuming repair job !. Even when repaired - with the replacement of the entire air ARB Coupling Pipe ( Not Cheap !), + Oil, time to refit etc, still leaves it just as prone to future damage.

This kit comprises of 2 x CNC Nitrogen Cut and CNC Folded Stainless Steel Brackets complete with Specially made P Clips, Allen Bolts, washers and Nylocs, plus a special longer Locking Pin for the Rir Ring and a set of longer Carrier Bolts.

What's REALLY good is that this Kit (Complete with simple to follow Instructions) CAN BE RETROFITTED safely without distrubing the differentials crucial 'Back Lash'. This kit not only locks the ARB Air Ring solidly in place but does the same for the Copper Pipe, making this 'Achilles Heel' of the ARB RD128 a thing of the past.
